CITY OF GOOD LIFE
X-en Provence has enjoyed a reputation for the city of good life for more than two thousand years, from the days when the Romans had its own: it has a spa site with hot water springs and baths, and plenty of beautiful fountains, gardens, restaurants and cafes; A city of wines, fruit markets and sweets (the most famous of which is Callisson), the city's traditional sweetener, which is considered to be a special festival.
MAJOR ATTRACTIONS
Start the tour of the city in Cours Mirabeau, in the heart of the city, which is covered by a wide canopy of trees, with beautiful old houses on the sides, decorated fountains and graceful cafes. This is an excellent area for an initial impression of the city, with aristocratic gardens, balconies decorated with sculpture and reliefs, and a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere that also attests to the rest of the city.
In the center of the town square, Place de l 'Hôtel de Ville, a wonderful fountain, on the days when the traditional flower market (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) surround the vendors and visitors in a magical cloud of Provence aroma. The flower market wanders the rest of the week to another wonderful square - Place des Prêcheurs. You should also see the rest of the fountains scattered in the city, such as the Pascal fountain, the Ormeaux fountain, the Espéluque fountain, and the Plaza of Alberta.
Close to this elegant square, the Museum of Nature is one of the most beautiful buildings, and represents the stylistic transition from the Baroque to the Rococo of the late seventeenth century.
